When written in Chinese, the word ‘crisis’ is composed of two characters. One represents danger and the other represents opportunity.

Deeper Justice coaching implies reaching higher levels of awareness by the method of Socratic questioning. According to the philosopher Socrates every human being carries his or her own wisdom. In the proces of Deeper Justice the right conditions are created for this wisdom to become aware. This awareness leads to more self insight in depth by a deep understanding from the inside out. Old patterns of behavior and hereditary beliefs are broken down, which leads to relief. It is doing justice to oneself on a deeper level which gives the opportunity to grow towards one’s authentic existence.
Deeper Justice coaching is a healing answer to the often superficiality in current society. Therefore it doesn’t work according fixed programs. Deeper Justice coaching creates the conditions that are needed in order to follow the natural process that leads to inner freedom. Besides being trained on a professional level Miriam also walks this natural path of Deeper Justice in her own life.
Miriam works with incarcerated people according this method. She believes that people who have committed a crime should have the opportunity to come to self insight concerning the crime they committed and the life events that led to the crime. Miriam meets the human being behind the crime, and from there, Deeper Justice coaching takes place. Self insight in one’s own life, and self insight concerning the crime that has been committed, leads to healing and prevents from recidivism. Because as Socrates said: ” Once one is aware, one can never return to unawareness again.”
Besides her work with incarcerated people, Miriam also does research on the American prison system. Her research in depth contributes to awareness on social level. It gives answers to what is happening behind what we see on the surface of society. She has regularly meetings with Americans from different states who are related to the prison system, and every week she participates in an American radio show about incarceration in the United States. In these shows Miriam contributes to awareness in discussions and questions about incarceration and related issues. With that she applies her view of Deeper Justice on both personal and social level.
